Thus far, I have finished the tail and the water around the tail. It is looking ok but the t-shirt that I bought is a little stretchy which is making it weird and I am afraid of what will happen when I wash it. I don’t know how well the ends of my threads will hold up. I’ll try to post some pictures of the progress as I stitch away.

The way to respond to people who are encouraging uninformed opinions is not to name call or slander the people who made the comments. Darren has given an example of a well written, informed response that encompasses the reasons that Canadians and the global community are sick of America’s shit. The Ignorance of the American Media.

Following news that, in 2011, the Canadian Army will require a 1 year break from military operation so that they can refurbish tanks and other equipment as well as maintain a healthy talent pool for it’s military the host of Red Eye decided, with his panelists to not only rip the Canadian Army but Canada as a whole.

Some of the included comments were:

• The Canadian military wants to take a breather to do some yoga, paint landscapes, run on the beach in gorgeous white capri pants.
• Isn’t this the perfect time to invade this ridiculous country
• Would Canada be able to get away with this if it wasn’t for the fact that they share a border with the most powerful country in the Universe.
• They couldn’t take a year off if they didn’t have the security backdrop of the United States.
• We have Police Officers and they have Mounties. We ride heavily armoured cars, they have horses. We have bulletproof vests, they have wonderful red jackets that can been seen a mile away, this is not a smart culture!

This arrogance and ignorance of the American media is pathetic and disgusting. What is even more disgusting is that in the host, Greg Gutfeld’s apology he said:

I realize that my words may have been misunderstood. It was not my intent to disrespect the brave men, women and families of the Canadian military

How was any of what was said not meant as an insult? Even in apology his, and his colleagues are too proud to fully admit to making a mistake. It was bad enough when CNN covered the Iraq and Afghan war on complete American bias, claiming that anything that wasn’t a pro-US opinion was either an act of terrorism, or just completely wrong. Hell I remember sending an e-mail to Wolf Blitzer explaining how hypocritial it was that they were claiming Iraq’s footage of the war was completely biased while CNN was purely Pro-US in it’s coverage…and how America had no right to carpet bomb a country for weeks on end over two buildings destroyed on US soil, and his response was that since I am a Canadian my opinion is of no importance and grossly misinformed, and was told not to try and e-mail CNN in the future because my address was going to be blocked.Then people wonder why respect for not only USA but for Americans as a whole is constantly getting worse and worse. It’s this “we run the world, and are high and almighty” attitude that sickens me. The constant raping of countries and trying to force it’s beliefs and way of life on other cultures under the guise of altruism is sad. What is worse is when something doesn’t go their way they start throwing hissy fits and flexing their muscles and using open ended threats of “you better do as we say or else…” to solve everything. And what has it got them? Iraq pissed at them, Afghanistan pissed at them, North Korea pissed at them, Russia pissed at them, and recently Iran believed to have the materials to build a nuke.

The world is the way it is today because of America and it’s way of doing things. I wouldn’t call it the most powerful country in the world but rather the most immature. To me America is the equivalent of those pathetic punks that take 10 of them to beat the crap out of one kid, usually for no other purpose than to steal it’s money (resources) or to reaffirm that is tough and manly. Much like online bullies who harass people just to flex their e-peen.

I do not hate Americans, but I am greatly opposed to what their country stands for, and the fact that so many of it’s citizens are blinded by power and military might that they won’t think for themselves. I would like to think this deceit of self-importance is why Bush was re-elected, and not because people genuinely felt that he was the right choice.

Canadian soldiers have been fighting in Afghanistan for eight years and have spent the last four in the country’s most violent region. Canada has lost 116 soldiers in Afghanistan, the highest casualty rate among allied countries fighting there.

The one thing that I feel I can take comfort in is that everyone gets thrown off their high-horse at some point in time. The only problem is the cost of this one is most likely going to be paid for in more bloodshed and mourning families because America is too thick headed to realize they are not the world police. The UN was created for a reason, not so that some spoiled country can run around doing what it wants.And of course the cliche questions: Weapons of Mass Destruction? Bin Laden? Oh that’s right, after Saddam there was that distraction of oil, and the adrenaline rush to flex your muscles more.

What is amusing is how many Americans travel with the Canadian flag on their luggage and clothing nowadays just to avoid the looks of disgust, and the piss-poor treatment when they travel abroad. Yet Canada is the country to be laughed at.

Jenn has done the typical school stuff that all kids get sent home with but the charity that she will become especially ruthless for is the Spina Bifida & Hydrocephalus Association of Ontario. Now when I say she gets ruthless, I mean she really uses dirty tactics. Try getting an e-mail with a picture of her boy attached in a Superman or Batman costume with a big smile and try to tell her you won’t buy one of her $20 calendars or subscribe to a magazine. I bet you can’t. I can’t.

This year, since she has the extra time off from work after just having a second child, she is helping with what I believe is an annual event the SB&H puts on. The Spirit Wheel Walk and Run helps raise money for organization. I am posting to encourage everyone to take a look at Jen’s blog about her work with this event and some of the things that she has experienced raising a child with spina bifida.
